Sore feet and food fights

Day two of intense sight seeing in KL. This morning we visited Merdeka Square (Independence Square) where they lowered the Union Jack in 1957 at the end of colonialism. This place is interesting, yet not as intense as other experiences we’ve had in our time here in KL. One side of the square is lined with Tudor style buildings, while the other side is lined with Islamic inspired architecture with beautiful copper domes. A very large Malaysian flag flies in the square a symbol of national pride.

We walked from there to Central Market (see Matt’s earlier posts about activities there), then onto Chinatown for a second time. We then ventured to Time Square a massive mall, where we were awestruck by the massive indoor roller coaster. Matt couldn’t find any takers to join him. Then we spent an hour at an IT mall before the monsoonal rain began. It bucketted down from the heavens for about 2 hours. So what was there to do but more shopping.

To much disappointment the dumpling store at Lot 10 was closed, so there was no second serving of custard buns, “on the way home” we have pledged. Tired and damp with sore feet we found a food court that was open until 8pm on the eve of Chinese New Year. However this combination deteriorated into frustration and food flinging. Don’t worry we all love each other again 😉

Time for a massage before bed, then up at 5am (not taking any chances, too many stories of almost missed flights in KL) to catch our flight to India.

About to take off…

We are blarey eyed and already over queuing, but very excited about the prospect of having dinner in KL tonight. Good ol’Air Aisa had us supposedly going to the gate at 9.25am for a 10.35am flight. It is now 10.25am, some peole have been queuing for 15minutes and nobody has boarded the plane. Gotta love Low Cost Carrier Airlines 😉

Phew…

AirAsia announcement this morning seven sleeps before we set off…

We were very close to booking flights to Mumbai instead of New Delhi…if we had we would have lost our return flight according to this announcement! However as we leave New Delhi late Feb, we are safe…phew
